  • Maeste Alma del Vivar, crafted by Bodegas Maeste, is a 2020 vintage red wine from the D.O.P. Ribera del Duero region. Owned by Miguel Pena and made by winemaker Guillermo Llorente with viticulturist Juan Manuel Martinez, this wine is predominantly composed of Tempranillo (97%) with a touch of Merlot (3%). The grapes are hand-harvested in small 12 kg boxes between September 30 and October 1, followed by meticulous selection in both the vineyard and winery. Fermentation is spontaneous, using autochthonous yeasts, and lasts 23 days, with daily punch downs and decanting transfers to preserve the thin lees. The wine is aged for 6 months in oak barrels, primarily French (95%) and a small portion American (5%), with a mix of new (7%), first-year (18%), and second-year (75%) barrels. It is bottled in 5,426 Bordeaux bottles, 60 Magnum, and 5 Double Magnum formats, with an alcohol content of 14% and a pH of 3.75.

On the palate, Maeste Alma del Vivar is a lively and modern wine that remains faithful to the Ribera terroir. It boasts vibrant ruby and cherry red hues. The nose reveals intense aromas of black and red wild fruits, such as blackberries and raspberries, complemented by subtle oak notes that evoke coffee and spices like cinnamon. The wine is fresh and balanced, offering a pleasant mid-palate and a magnificent aftertaste. Its versatility makes it an excellent companion for a wide variety of gastronomic dishes.
